Substance Use Counseling & Medication

Evergreen Health provides an array of services for people seeking substance/drug user health services. If you are ready for a more structured treatment approach, our substance use services team offers individual and group counseling, psychiatry and medication assisted treatment for people who use drugs and other substances.

We will meet you where you’re at with your use and let you decide the goal of treatment. Abstinence isn’t expected, and we will never stop providing our services because of drug use. You can always count on our team to be understanding and non-judgmental.

Substance Use Counseling

Substance Use Counseling is a treatment approach that is unique to your goals surrounding your drug or substance use. Whether you attend individual or group counseling, we will celebrate all positive change — big and small — that you make.

Substance Use Counseling is for people who:

  • are currently using substances, including alcohol, tobacco, opioids (such as heroin and fentanyl) and other drugs
  • haven’t had success in abstinence-based programs

Our friendly counselors help people:

  • set goals and make a plan
  • learn how to use more safely
  • learn about additional programs and services that can help
  • learn about Medication Assisted Treatment

Participants must be 18 or older and attend counseling on a regular basis. Insurance is also needed to participate. If you don’t have insurance, we can help you sign up.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

MAT is the use of medications, including buprenorphine (sometimes referred to as Suboxone), to help you reduce or stop your use of drugs and/or alcohol.

Medication Assisted Treatment is for people who:

  • use drugs or substances, want to stop using or reduce their use AND have an interest in discussing medical treatment options

Individuals who have a mental health diagnosis can be treated simultaneously for both psychiatric and substance use by the same providers.

What does a treatment plan look like?

When considering MAT, you will be seen by members of Evergreen’s substance use health team. This includes counseling staff, trained nurse specialists, physician assistants and a psychiatrist/addiction specialist. These professionals work together to help you find a treatment option that fits your individual needs.

If you are interested in MAT, you can be seen within a few days to receive an evaluation.
