Free Community Health Fair July 20 at Community Access Services on Bailey Avenue in Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY – July 16, 2019 – Evergreen Health, Community Access Services, Asian American Physicians Association (AAPA) and Council of Heritage and Arts of India, Inc. (CHAI) are partnering to host a Community Health & Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 at Community Access Services located at 3297 Bailey Ave. in Buffalo. The event is free and open to the Western New York community. There will be free health screenings for participants ages 18 and up, as well as information on how to access a variety of health support services in the community.

Providers will be onsite to administer the health screenings, which include non-invasive physical and sexual health screenings, and STI testing. They can also answer questions about HIV, hepatitis C, mental health, kidney and heart disease, dental needs, substance use and more.

“Ensuring everyone has access to the care they need and deserve is the first step in building a health community,” said Kimberly Brown, executive director at Community Access Services. “Working with community partners is an important part of the work we do and we are excited to partner with the Asian American Physicians Association and Council of Heritage and Arts of India to bring this event to the community.”

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to share my expertise and provide mental health resources and information to the community at the Health & Wellness Fair,” said Balwant Nagra, M.D., Psychiatrist at the Regional Behavioral Health Center of Excellence at ECMC and President of Asian American Physicians Association. “By coming together with these great organizations we can provide people with the information and resources they need to live healthier lives but may not know how to access otherwise.”

Participants can also enjoy free BBQ, games and giveaways. The event is family-friendly and from 12 to 1 p.m. there will be a fire truck onsite to provide fire safety information to children and their families. Also, DJ Yasmin Young from Power 93.7 WBLK will be on hand to provide music throughout the day.

The organizers of the heath fair collaborated with 13 service providers including Fidelis, Department of Health partner services, Cicatelli & Associates, Renewal Center, Roswell Care Institute and William Emslie YMCA, to name a few.
