Evergreen Health and Community Access Services (CAS) Share Key Updates on New Healthcare Center at 3070 Bailey Avenue

Announcements include building opening timeline, a partnership with the Buffalo AKG Art Museum for a mural on the new location, and new CAS branding

Buffalo, NY – Evergreen Health and its affiliate, Community Access Services (CAS), hosted a community meeting this week to share key updates on the new comprehensive healthcare center opening this summer at 3070 Bailey Avenue.

The meeting provided information about services that will be available to the community. Evergreen also announced its partnership with the Buffalo AKG Public Art Initiative to work with local artist Bree Gilliam for a large-scale mural on the exterior of the new location.

A figurative painter from Buffalo, the artist Bree Gilliam is the owner and founder of Paintphoria, Buffalo’s first paint-throwing studio. In her work, she addresses the social issues that plague society. As a young Black woman, she believes that her responsibility is to depict the perspective of marginalized people, give a voice to the voiceless and empower her community.

“I am incredibly honored to be a part of this project with Evergreen Health and the Buffalo AKG,” said Gilliam. “My motto is ‘art is power,’ and this mural has the power to inspire hope, joy, and a sense of connection for our community.”

The exterior of the healthcare center has been shaped by community feedback at a variety of neighborhood events and ongoing engagement with local stakeholders, advisors, and staff, and will feature new CAS branding that celebrates and empowers the community.

“From the beginning, this project has been shaped by the voices of the community. Hosting this meeting was an opportunity not only to share our progress, but to celebrate what makes this space unique, including an inspirational mural in partnership with the Buffalo AKG Public Art Initiative and artist Bree Gilliam,” said Ray Ganoe, president and CEO of Evergreen Health. “This building is about more than healthcare, it’s about creating a welcoming, inclusive space that reflects and serves the community.”

“We’re proud to partner with the community to ensure our shared values and goals are reflected in the new healthcare center from services that will be offered to the exterior mural,” said Kim Brown, executive director of CAS. “CAS empowers Buffalo’s communities of color through connections to culturally rooted healthcare, resources, and social services, and we’re excited to launch this new brand to connect and communicate with the communities we serve more intentionally and effectively.”

Evergreen Health and CAS are building the new healthcare center to ensure inclusive and judgment-free care is accessible to more people in the community, with a long-term goal of eradicating health inequity through unconditional care.

The comprehensive healthcare center will feature services from both Evergreen Health and CAS, including but not limited to primary care, pharmacy services, behavioral health services, testing and education, community mobilization, gynecological services, care coordination, financial counseling, a food distribution center, multiuse meeting rooms for community groups, and more.
